Funding granted for a New Discretionary Disability Project Grant Scheme

The Rother Alliance

At a recent Council meeting, Rother District councillors approved a £200,000 fund to establish the Discretionary Disabled Project Grant scheme.

The new scheme will allow community groups to apply for grants of up to £10,000 to fund projects that improve disabled facilities for community-based buildings and provide greater access to public buildings, venues, parks and open spaces across Rother.

The introduction of the new grant scheme is proposed as part of the council’s revised Financial Assistance Policy to ensure the full allocation of disabled facilities funding is spent and community needs are met.

The new fund is in addition to the existing Disabled Facilities Grants for individuals and households. The Alliance-led administration hopes this additional fund will increase access and opportunities for disabled residents, workers and visitors, making local groups, places and spaces available to all.
