Cabinet successfully gain over £1.5m in Prosperity Funds

On the 17th July, Rother’s Cabinet approved the allocation of £1m from the Department of Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC) through the United Kingdom Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) and £603,963 through the Rural England Prosperity Fund (REPF).

As the report says, “Projects were prioritised under the three DLUHC priority themes and assessed against RDC’s Corporate Plan, The Anti-Poverty Strategy, The Economic Recovery Action Plan and the Environment Strategy. The Investment Plan, including its deliverables were developed and submitted to DLUHC in Autumn 2022 and approved in January 2023.”

Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Economic Regeneration Christine Bayliss said at the meeting, “I’m really pleased to be presenting this report,” citing the success of the Rural Business Fund set up during the Covid19 Pandemic, “we actually set up a really good rural business fund […] we’ve modelled how we’re going to deliver this off the success of that.”

Climate Change Portfolio Holder Arren Rathbone Ariel, speaking after the meeting, said, “The allocation of funds for decarbonation is especially welcome, which should help with the energy and climate crisis.”
